Chairlift Terminal Concepts, 1995-1997
These concept drawings and models eventually led to the final prototypes and lifts that were installed in many ski areas all over Europe. The basic design language could be described as 'sleek modularity'. Terminal coverings were designed to be made of standardized, modular elements that would be easy to transport and install on-site.
Concept Sketches
Garaventa AG is one of the world's leading chairlift and
cableway companies. Now it is part of the Doppelmayr Group, based in Austria. This project was an effort by Garaventa to modernize their product line in a stylish and economical way.
Scope
With carriers for two, four, six or eight passengers, chairlifts are an extremely convenient and modern solution for very high transport capacities (up to 4,000 persons per hour). Chairlifts are a popular choice for ski areas as passengers can ride the lifts without having to remove their skis or snowboards. State-of-the-art detachable systems offer safe and convenient loading at very low terminal speeds and line speeds of up to 6 meters per second. Carriers can be supplied as open or canopy chairs with special weather-resistant and hard-wearing padding.
